Workshop and Film Screening – The Death Penalty in the USA
Join us at the Human Rights Action Centre for an eye-opening event exploring the controversial topic of the death penalty in the USA. This in-person workshop and film screening will shed light on the complexities and implications of capital punishment in America. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and gain new perspectives on this important issue.
Workshop: The event will begin with a workshop about how to get involved with the Amnesty Anti- Death Penalty Project’s campaigning over the next year, what ‘adopting a state’ looks like, and how to campaign for your state to take the next step toward true abolition.
Film Screening: After the workshop, there will be a screening of “The Penalty” – and exceptionally moving and powerful examination of the Death Penalty in the USA, through the eyes of people who, in some way, have experienced the system. The producers of the film have kindly granted us permission to stream the film to hybrid attendees, so please do stay online with us for this excellent film.
Attendance: This is a hybrid event – the workshop can be attended in person at the HRAC, or online through a link that will be provided to you nearer the date of the session. Please do book the correct ticket, so that we can keep track of numbers! It is our strong hope that we will also be able to stream “The Penalty” through our hybrid joining link, but that is subject to licensing.
